4 Days 3 Nights Kayaking, Trekking & Biking Overnight Junk, Floating Village and Cat Ba Homestay FAQ

While geographically part of the same stunning limestone karst ecosystem, Lan Ha Bay is significantly quieter and less crowded than neighboring Ha Long Bay. Lan Ha Bay features more pristine, secluded sand beaches and hidden lagoons accessible only by kayak. Because it sees far fewer massive cruise ships, it offers a cleaner, much more authentic, and peaceful kayaking and trekking adventure.

Yes! Solo travelers are very welcome on all of our itineraries. Our tours are highly social small-group experiences, making it easy to meet fellow adventurers. For kayaking, we typically use stable tandem (double) kayaks, meaning you will pair up with a guide or another traveler. Please note there is a single supplement fee if you request a private cabin on our overnight Junk or homestay tours.

To secure your booking, we require a deposit or full payment in advance depending on the itinerary. We accept secure online card payments, PayPal, and bank transfers. Any remaining balances can be settled at our main office near Ben Beo Pier before departure using cash (VND or USD) or major credit cards. Please note that according to our policy, payment must be made in full before departure to finalize your booking manifest.

Our kayaking itineraries are designed for active exploration, typically involving 4 to 6 hours of paddling per day. We break this up into morning and afternoon sessions to ensure you have plenty of time to visit hidden lagoons, caves, and beaches without feeling rushed.

While you do not need to be an elite athlete, our tours are geared toward travelers who enjoy an active lifestyle. If you can comfortably walk for an hour and ride a bicycle, you will enjoy our kayaking, trekking, and biking activities. We offer varied paces, and our guides are happy to adjust the intensity to match the group’s ability.

We recommend packing light for the bay. Essential items include: quick-dry clothing, swimwear, comfortable footwear for trekking (sandals or light sneakers), a hat, sunglasses with a strap, and high-SPF sunscreen. Don’t forget your passport or a photo of it (required for port registration) and a waterproof bag for your electronics, We provide a Dry Bag for your personel daily items on every Kayak tour.

For our group tours, we provide complimentary pickup from hotels within the Hanoi Old Quarter. If you are staying outside of this area, we will coordinate a central meeting point for you to join the shuttle bus.

You will find 4G mobile coverage available at our Floating homestay Blue Lagoon and Lan Ha Homestay locations and in many parts of the bay near the mainland. Coverage can be limited or intermittent while we are cruising or kayaking in the deeper, secluded parts of the bay on our Junk boats, allowing for a true “off-the-grid” nature experience.

We provide all necessary safety and activity gear, including high-quality kayaks, paddles, and life jackets (PFDs). For tours involving biking or trekking, we provide well-maintained bicycles and all necessary access fees for the National Park and bay areas.

The trekking on Cat Ba Island is a highlight for adventure seekers. Depending on your chosen itinerary, you will hike through lush jungle paths, enjoying the biodiversity of Cat Ba National Park. The trails offer a rewarding experience with terrain ranging from moderate forest paths to rocky inclines leading to stunning viewpoints.

Absolutely! Many of our hiking routes, such as the trek up to Hai Quan Peak (Navy Peak), are specifically chosen because they offer breathtaking, panoramic photo opportunities over both Lan Ha Bay and Ha Long Bay. These viewpoints are perfect for capturing the iconic limestone karst scenery.

Your safety is our priority. We strictly follow government tourism guidelines and instructions from the Management Board of the Bay. In the rare event of unsafe weather conditions (such as tropical storms), tours may be delayed or cancelled. If we must cancel due to official government directives, we will offer alternative dates or a tour of a similar standard to ensure your trip remains unforgettable.

Yes, absolutely! We regularly accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and specific food allergy requests. Our professional local guides are fully trained in water safety and will be right beside you the entire time.

If you are traveling from Hanoi for an overnight tour, you can bring your luggage with you. It can be safely stored in your private cabin aboard our Deluxe Junk boat or at the homestay.

You will find 4G mobile coverage available at our homestay locations and in many parts of the bay near the mainland.

Since our meals feature fresh, local Vietnamese seafood and ingredients prepared onboard our Junk boats or at the floating village homestay, please inform us of any dietary requirements or food allergies when making your booking so our team can prepare a custom menu for you.

No, expert swimming skills are not required. Lan Ha Bay is highly sheltered, resulting in calm, glassy waters with minimal waves. Furthermore, wearing a high-quality life jacket (PFD) is strictly mandatory for all guests while on the water. Our professional local guides are fully trained in water safety and will be right beside you the entire time.

If you are traveling from Hanoi for an overnight tour, you can bring your luggage with you. It can be safely stored in your private cabin aboard our Deluxe Junk boat or at the homestay. Alternatively, if you have oversized bags you prefer not to carry, you are welcome to securely store your main luggage at our main office near Ben Beo Pier for free while you are out exploring the bay.

Cat Ba Self-Guided Kayak Rental FAQ

While geographically part of the same stunning limestone karst ecosystem, Lan Ha Bay is significantly quieter and less crowded than neighboring Ha Long Bay. For independent paddlers, Lan Ha Bay is ideal because it features more pristine, secluded sand beaches, hidden sea arches, and quiet lagoons that are completely free from massive cruise ship traffic, offering a much safer and cleaner self-guided experience.

We take care of all the heavy lifting! Instead of making you paddle past busy harbors or shipping lanes, our round-trip private water taxi transports you and your kayak directly from Ben Beo Pier out to the best, safest, and most beautiful permitted kayaking areas in the bay. This ensures you spend 100% of your time exploring pristine limestone cliffs and quiet waters. When you are done, the water taxi picks you up and returns you to the pier.

To reserve your single or double kayak, we require advanced booking. We accept secure online card payments, PayPal, and bank transfers. Any remaining balances can be easily settled at our main office near Ben Beo Pier before your departure using cash (VND or USD) or major credit cards.

Our self-guided rentals offer complete flexibility. Whether you want a quick half-day paddle or a full-day exploration, you can set your own schedule. When booking, simply let us know your preferred starting time and duration, and we will coordinate your private water taxi drop-off and pick-up times accordingly.

Yes, absolutely. Before you push off into the water, our experienced team provides a thorough safety briefing and local route recommendations. We will point out the best hidden lagoons, remote white-sand beaches, sea arches, and floating fish farms that fit your timeframe, ensuring you don’t miss any of Lan Ha Bay’s best-kept secrets.

We recommend packing light. Essential items include: quick-dry clothing, swimwear, secure water shoes or sandals, a hat, sunglasses with a strap, and high-SPF sunscreen. Don’t forget a physical copy or photo of your passport on your phone for port authority registration. We provide a heavy-duty dry bag with your rental to keep your phone, camera, and personal items completely safe and dry.

Our main office is conveniently located right near Ben Beo Pier (Cai Beo Street, Cat Ba Town), which is the direct gateway to Lan Ha Bay. Guests typically make their way to our office to complete registration, receive their equipment safety briefing, and board the private water taxi.

You will generally find steady 4G mobile coverage across major sections of Lan Ha Bay, especially near the mainland and surrounding floating fishing villages. However, be aware that when paddling deep inside enclosed limestone valleys or through sea caves, the signal can temporarily drop out. We recommend downloading an offline map app before heading out!

We provide premium, professional-grade equipment. Your rental includes a high-performance single or double touring sea kayak fitted with an adjustable foot-operated rudder system, bulkheads, and deck bungees. You will also receive premium touring paddles, professional-grade life jackets (PFDs), spray decks, paddling jackets, dry bags, light snacks, and a large bottle of drinking water per person.

Yes! Unlike standard rentals where you have to buy separate tickets, our rental price is fully inclusive. All Lan Ha Bay entrance, sightseeing, and port manifestation fees are included in your booking cost. There are zero hidden fees when you arrive at the pier.

Safety is our top priority. We strictly follow the safety instructions and weather guidelines set by the Management Board of Lan Ha Bay. If the port authorities temporarily close the bay or cancel boat departures due to unsafe conditions (such as tropical storms or thick fog), we cannot launch the water taxis. In these rare events, we will work with you to reschedule your rental or issue a full refund.

While our stable, high-quality touring kayaks are excellent for all types of adventure seekers, we recommend that at least one person in your party has basic paddling confidence, as this is a completely unguided, self-guided experience. If you can comfortably swim and manage basic boat steering, you will find navigating the calm, sheltered waters of Lan Ha Bay incredibly rewarding.

You do not need to try and fit your luggage onto the kayak! You are more than welcome to securely store your large backpacks, suitcases, or travel gear at our main office near Ben Beo Pier for free. You only need to take your small valuables, sun protection, and cameras with you in the provided dry bags.

                Full Day Cruising-Kayaking-Snorkeling Tour FAQ

While geographically part of the same stunning limestone karst ecosystem, Lan Ha Bay is significantly quieter and less crowded than neighboring Ha Long Bay. Lan Ha Bay features more pristine, secluded sand beaches and hidden lagoons accessible only by kayak. Because it sees far fewer massive cruise ships, it offers a cleaner, much more authentic, and peaceful kayaking adventure away from the tourist crowds.

Yes! Solo travelers are very welcome on our 1-day tours. Our trips are highly social small-group experiences, making it easy to meet fellow adventurers. For kayaking, we use stable tandem (double) kayaks, meaning you will pair up with our guide or another traveler from the group.

Any remaining balances can be settled at our main office near Ben Beo Pier before departure using cash (VND or USD) or major credit cards. Please note that according to our policy, payment must be made in full before departure to finalize your booking manifest.

Our 1-day guided tour is designed for thorough exploration, involving roughly 1.5 to 3 hours of active paddling, depending on the group’s pace. We make sure there is plenty of time to explore hidden lagoons, pass through limestone arches, and take relaxing swimming breaks on secluded beaches.

While you do not need to be an elite athlete, our day tour is geared toward travelers who enjoy an active lifestyle. If you have a basic level of stamina and can comfortably paddle at a relaxed pace, you will fully enjoy this day out on the water. Our professional guides are always there to set an enjoyable pace for everyone.

We recommend packing light for your day on the bay. Essential items include: quick-dry clothing, swimwear, sandals or water shoes, a hat, sunglasses with a strap, and high-SPF sunscreen. Don’t forget your passport or a clear photo of it on your phone (required by port authorities for registration). We provide a high-quality Dry Bag on every kayak for your personal daily items.

We provide complimentary pickup and drop-off directly from your hotel or accommodation located within Cat Ba Town. You will find stable 4G mobile coverage while we are close to the Cat Ba mainland and passing near the local floating villages. However, as we paddle deeper into the secluded lagoons and behind massive limestone cliffs, cellular signals can become limited or cut out completely, giving you a wonderful opportunity to disconnect and enjoy nature.

We provide all necessary premium safety and activity gear. This includes high-quality ocean kayaks, lightweight paddles, mandatory life jackets (PFDs), and dry bags for your electronics. All entrance fees and boat transfer fees for Lan Ha Bay are also fully included.

Furthermore, wearing a high-quality life jacket (PFD) is strictly mandatory for all guests while on the water. Our professional local guides are fully trained in water safety and will be right beside you the entire time.

If you are arriving in Cat Ba for the day or checking out of your hotel before the tour, you are welcome to securely store your main luggage at our main office near Ben Beo Pier for free while you are out exploring the bay. 1-Day Guided Lan Ha Bay Kayaking Tour FAQ

To secure your booking, we require full payment or a deposit in advance. We accept secure online card payments, PayPal, and bank transfers. Any remaining balances can be settled at our main office near Ben Beo Pier before departure using cash (VND or USD) or major credit cards. Please note that according to our policy, payment must be made in full before departure to finalize your booking manifest.

If you are staying outside the main town area, please contact us so we can arrange a convenient central meeting point or coordinate your transfer to our main office at Ben Beo Pier.

Your safety is our absolute priority. We strictly monitor and follow government tourism guidelines and instructions issued by the Management Board of Lan Ha Bay. In the rare event of unsafe weather conditions (such as sudden tropical storms), tours may be delayed or cancelled by port authorities. If your tour is cancelled due to official weather directives, we will offer you an alternative date or a full refund.

Yes, absolutely! A fresh local lunch is included in our 1-day tour, and we regularly accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and specific food allergy requests. Please inform us of any dietary requirements or food allergies when making your booking so our team can prepare your meal accordingly.

If you are arriving in Cat Ba for the day or checking out of your hotel before the tour, you are welcome to securely store your main luggage at our main office near Ben Beo Pier for free while you are out exploring the bay. You only need to bring your small daypack with essentials onto the boat.
